Be You - Be Solid
Travel Ball – “That” time of year!
It’s that time of year when teams fall apart! Players quit, parents lose their minds, coaches perplexed. #BeYou #BeSolid
I’ll share my perspective from what I believe College Coaches are hoping for. Be that player that knows how to play, win or lose, amongst all the challenges that will always be part of “THE GAME”. Yes, you will win some and lose some. There will be errors on the field, players striking out, coaches losing their minds, umpires making bad calls. It happens in college too! Learn to play through it. Control what you can control - your daughter. Make sure she’s in the most athletic condition possible as she may have to pitch them all, catch them all or fight out of the loser’s bracket. Get your daughter the best hitting, catching or pitching coaches. Do the work months before you get there! Eat right, train like an athlete! Get your heads right, it’s just a game and it’s a long journey! When you leave a team, you take YOUR issues with you, fix YOUR issues and stay or go because they’ll still be your issues! It’s not always what YOU want it to be but you’re part of a team, a bigger goal. College Coaches have shared with me that they want a player that has been part of every experience the game can give them, winning, losing, fighting, competing, working through adversity, standing in the winner’s circle, being a good teammate, being a great student, being a great leader, being a contributor. Take charge of what you control and forget about all the drama and all the negative people starting their rumors, plotting their moves, and sitting and sulking together! Where ever you go, YOU follower you! Be You
